Becoming Who?

“When you grow up, what do you want to become?” asks any concerned Nigerian adult. I have struggled with this question all my life.

I have never had a particular career goal or dream set for myself. Navigating life with this blankness can be quite daunting, considering the general expectation for everyone to know what they want. I would often call myself lazy and feel inadequate most of the time. It gets stressful when surrounded by people who seemingly have it all figured out.

However, in the past few months, I have realised that this state is a blessing. I have been naturally designed to do, think, and freely create myself into whatever I choose to be.

So, I go out strong, bold, and ready to choose who I want to be. I let go of the pressure to become someone specific. As I navigate through life, I will discover what I enjoy and excel at, and ultimately, my happiness is what matters most.
